DRIVING TO THE FARM
Below we provide a link to a PDF version of driving instructions from the Rome Fiumicino Airport to the farm. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU READ THE NOTES CAREFULLY AND THAT YOU PRINT OUT A HARD COPY TO BRING WITH YOU!
DIRECTIONS FROM FCO
We’ve created a customized route from Fiumicino Airport (FCO) to the farm that’s a bit (i.e., 10 minutes) longer than the quickest route, but far less likely to lead to you getting lost. You can see it in Google Maps here.
Even better, a print-ready PDF of that route is here.
TWO IMPORTANT NOTES about the PDF directions:
- Step 22: When you exit the autostrade (just after paying the toll), turn LEFT even though a sign for Ripatransone points to the right. Here’s where you’ll turn left:
- Step 24: The directions call for you turning left at “Via Arturo Toscanini / carbinieri.” You might not see that sign; here’s what that left turn looks like:
We strongly recommend that you download these two pictures to your iPad or smartphone so you are reminded when driving!
THAT PESKY LAST KILOMETER
Despite our best efforts at providing directions, we’ve found that about half of all visitors (okay, almost all of them) get lost when they’re oh so very close to the farm. The area is really lovely, so getting lost isn’t so bad.
But if you want to minimize the fuss, simply follow the signs to RIPATRANSONE. After entering our little town, follow the signs to “Centro” (town center). Park where you can and hoof it to the main church (the one with the big tower). Directly across from the church is Bar Centrale – a fine coffee and pastry shop. Give us a call (we’ll share our cell phone number in advance) and we will come fetch you.
THE LAST RESORT
As a last resort, the GPS coordinates for the entrance to our driveway are 43.006683,13.763053. BUT NOTE: If you use Google Maps (using our coordinates or searching for Tutto Doppio Vineyard), the default directions will take you on a path that can be a bit steep and narrow! If that’s not your thing, stay on Strada Provinciale 92 after leaving the Grottammare exit until you see the blue sign for Ripatransone on the right. This means that you will keep going on SP 92 even after Google Maps tells you to turn right on a “street” called Penna.
